Day of Fun in the Woods

Wednesday, 30. December 2009 14:17

For fun my family enjoys spending a day at River Ranch. River Ranch is over 1000 acres of woods and pastures to enjoy hunting or fishing. We usually ride in our truck but you can ride four wheelers or buggys as well. There is a swimming hole to take the kids swimming. We also usually go to the fishing spot and let the kids fish for a while before stopping to eat lunch off the tailgate. We also ride the truck thru the mudholes and have also made the kids a sled to pull behind the truck and ride on it. When the day is over we go back to our camp and cook on the grill. We usually have a campfire and sit around and talk and hang out. It is good quality time with our kids that they all enjoy. We have gone for the day and for the weekends at a time. It is fun no matter what time of the year you go. We also go down during hunting season and spend the first few hours of the morning hunting with our dogs.

Steak and Potatoes Night

Monday, 28. December 2009 12:17

Last night it was steak and mashed potatoes night. We put the steak on the grill outside with our special steak rub. Yum. We made mashed potatoes and served those with gravy. All of the kids like steak and potatoes night. I do also. During dinner we all chatted about our day. The girls shared what happened at school and how fun it is to make new friends. Before we knew it dinner was gone. We ate it all. For dessert the girls tried to decide between cookies and marshmallows. The marshmallows won. Not a surprise. They are a crowd favorite also.

October

Friday, 25. December 2009 9:16

October has been associated with many things in our society—the changing to fall colors and temperatures, festivals, harvest, and of course, Halloween preoccupations. Viewing October as a month when the unofficial birth of the Protestant Reformation took place would not break into most people’s top five lists on how to associate October.  But when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses regarding indulgences upon the church door at Wittenberg, he spawned the Reformation movement in the church of Christ that continues to have its positive impact today.

My Shepherd Pup

Monday, 21. December 2009 16:18

I love my German shepherd puppy so much that I would buy him boy dog clothes.  He is smart, athletic, strong, noble, and my best friend.  He is six months old and already fifty-one pounds!  We bought him a prong collar because he pulls on walks, but other than that he is very obedient.  He knows the commands sit, stay, heel, down, and come.  We take him to the park to play with other dogs and to chase the ball.  He is so fast when he runs after the ball and he even runs back so that I can throw it again!  I think that German Shepherds are the best breed because they are so intelligent and willing to please.  They are great working dogs and also great companion dogs.  I also like other large breed dogs such as Rottweilers and American Bulldogs.  You will be give good and healthy foods. And then you have given one bowl of fresh clean water in everyday. And then do not give sweet food and chocolate, because which is the hard for them to digest. Most of the dog groom at least twice a week. Brushing in your dog and it was help coats stay healthy, odorless and mat free. Clean your dog’s ear at least weekly once. And then you have taken the dog and go to walk in or around. And then you have be clean and neat the dog tent. And play with you pets.

Certified Nursing Assistant

Monday, 21. December 2009 7:15

I became certified there with a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate and moved to Palmdale, California to be with my boyfriend at the time. After quite a nasty break up, I moved to Mesquite, Nevada where my parents assisted me in getting on my feet with an apartment and other necessities. After a year and a half there, I had a short stint in Bountiful, Utah and then went straight back to Mesquite. I decided I had had enough of the town and it’s inhabitants and I moved to Miramonte, California to “detox” as I like to think of it. From there I moved to Kelso, Washington where I lived with a good friend of mine for months on end. Here I am now, sitting in beautiful Seattle, Washington with my best male friend who just got back from Iraq, filling out this question!

The Family Never Changes!

Thursday, 17. December 2009 6:15

Last weekend I went to visit my family in Chicago. I only like about 2 1/2 hours away so it is not a bad little trip. Gas as low so I decided to just pick up and go, considering I had no plans for that weekend. So, I packed some clothes and headed up North. When I arrived there, it was about 5:00PM. I first went to go see my Uncle and cousin than I went to my Aunts house and stayed by her place and ate dinner. I cone from a big Italian family so dinner is the best part of everyday. They are all great cooks. My Aunt wanted me to stay the night there so I decided that I would. I would rather have stayed there anyways than anywhere else. I am very comfortable there.

“Fringe” Benefits

Friday, 11. December 2009 5:14

One of many marketing posters used to promote ...

One of the most daunting tasks that TV writers face today is keeping their audience interested and wanting more. It gets harder and harder to write interesting shows as original ideas become scarcer and writers are left with fewer options. A show has to grab its viewer, reel them in within the first 3 episodes and keep them coming back every week or it’s dead. This is not the case for JJ Abram’s “Fringe”. Here is a show that is based on reality with a heavy dose of sci-fi which makes for a believable and compelling combination. The idea behind Fringe is to show how the advancement of science in the wrong hands can sometimes lead to unsavory ends and the consequences of those actions. The characters of the show are all well written and the plot twists never disappoint. Every episode leaves us wondering what is going to happen next?

Junk – It’s what’s for dinner

Friday, 4. December 2009 2:12

Purchased at Sam's Club in February 2005

Last night I had two strawberry pop-tarts, some handfuls of cheese puffs and a rice cereal treat. The pop-tarts were frosted and had sprinkles, but weren’t very nutritious. The cheese puffs were quite tasty, but I imagine had quite a bit of my daily saturated fat. The rice cereal treat was probably the most nutritious item in the bunch. At least it had some cereal in it. Plus it was quite tasty and filling. I only wish I had eaten more rice cereal treats, I probably would have been better off. I was going to eat a cheese steak sub for dinner, but unfortunately the restaurant across the street from my house was closed at 8 PM because it was Sunday. My only course of action was to go to the convenience store across the street and by a bunch of junk. I didn’t even use a plate, which made it feel like it wasn’t even dinner. I guess I didn’t even really eat dinner last night; I just had a large snack. I guess I could call it snicker.

Why You Shouldn’t Have Children

Tuesday, 1. December 2009 1:12

I was talking with my 4-year-old the other day and she said, “Mom, when I grow up I don’t want to have any children.”  “Why not?”, I asked. She answered, “Because I don’t want anybody growing inside me.”  “Interesting”, I commented. Then she added, “And besides, I don’t want to have to wipe anybody’s butt.”  “Oh!”  Then she asked, “Mom, do you LIKE wiping my butt?” I wanted to give her an answer that wouldn’t scar her for life (not “Gaaaak! I hate it!) but one that would at least be truthful.  So, I said, “It’s just one of those things that has to be done. I don’t mind.”  And you know what?  She does NOT remember that story to this day.
