“The Tombstone Will Be My Diploma”

Thursday, 29. July 2010 6:10

I love to learn. I’m a natural listener. I don’t talk very often, until you really get to know me, but even then I’m mostly talking only when I’m asking questions. I always, always want to know, “why?” to just about anything.  I have several websites bookmarked on my computer which keep me updated on the latest in psychology, science, and the world. I play brain games because I have some irrational fear of my brain diminishing somehow. I loved school for more than just the social aspect, and I take everything in life as a learning experience. Learning is what life is all about, anyways.

Shockingly Funny

Monday, 26. July 2010 13:09

I’m almost hesitant to write about this, only because I know almost any funny story is one of those “you had to be there” moments, but my freshman year of college I took a Criminal Justice class on policing. One class day we had a guest speaker come and he brought his taser gun with him. He gave a long lecture on the mechanics of the taser and later asked if there were any volunteers to be tased. I thought the man was either joking or insane, but when I looked around the classroom there were 12 guys in a class of about 60 who had their hands raised. They got to choose anywhere between a very quick on/off switch all the way to 5 seconds. After watching a few guys scream their way through an on/off switch, 5 guys backed out, but I cried from laughing so hard at the 7 guys who begged for the policeman to turn the taser off after one second (though some bold/stupid ones aimed for 4 seconds).

Peek into my Life

Thursday, 22. July 2010 6:09

Last week was not at all a week to remember in my life, but let’s talk about it anyways. I recently just moved to the small town of Hempstead, Texas from Houston (I know, stupid, right?), so most of my last week was spent job hunting in this new town – how do people find steady work in places like this?! I also spent a considerable amount of time packing and moving the rest of my life from my old home in Houston to my new home, as well as packing a bunch at my grandpa’s old house (who passed away recently). In between all of that, there were literally hours spent arguing with my boyfriend of a year. We broke up, but I found a job! I guess it was a memorable week, after all.

It Costs to be the Boss!

My education is by far the most expensive thing I have ever paid for. Four years of college life away from home is loan after loan after loan (after loan). My parents were unable to help me pay for my school and my grants were not near enough to cover it all. However, I would have to say it paid off because it was definitely an experience. This is the place I broke out of my shell and met all of my closest friends to this day, not to mention had some of the craziest experiences of my life and of course got my val

uable education. College was basically one long course in Life Lessons 101 and was absolutely worth every penny.

Dream Car

Friday, 16. July 2010 14:07

What’s your dream car? It’s such a common question, yet I have never in my life had an answer for it. I know I’m supposed to have some super cool answer, but I don’t. I can tell you that I am extremely drawn to black Dodge Chargers, and black Dodge Challengers, though I could never tell you the difference between the two or why I like them. I don’t know the difference between the most basic types of cars like most people do, but my all-too-reasonable answer to this is a blue Chevy Cobalt – mostly because I like the shade of blue it comes in.

Figuring out the Human Mind

Tuesday, 13. July 2010 11:06

Human behavior is something that has always intrigued me. I could literally sit and watch people all day if I had the chance. Psychology was a required course at my school, but it was easily my favorite (followed closely by Sociology). Learning about people’s behaviors and the reasons behind them sparked my interest from the beginning which is probably what sent me to get my degree in Criminal Justice. I did not get the chance to take all of the various psychology courses offered, but the couple that I did get to take made me consider going into the field of Research to delve deeper into the reasons people do the things they do.

Man’s Best Friend

Friday, 9. July 2010 20:06

I hate to be so typical, but my favorite animal would just have to be a dog. As a child, I only had cats to play with – and lots of them. I would always consider myself a cat person, but then I got a dog and I fell in love. You can train them, play with them, bathe them, and take them for walks, among other things. Perhaps it’s the idea that you can never really feel lonely as long as you have a dog. With a cat, it’s almost the opposite – being home alone with a cat is almost putting an emphasis on the loneliness. Simply put, I love the comfort a dog can give you.

Do you Yahoo?

Tuesday, 6. July 2010 14:04

I would consider Yahoo my favorite website because it’s my go-to site for pretty much everything. I frequent www.yahoo.com thr

oughout my day to keep up on the latest news simply because I hate the feeling of not knowing what’s going on in the world. I don’t always have time to watch the news and Yahoo keeps me updated on the most important news until I can find the time to catch up on my local news. A guilty pleasure of mine is the articles Yahoo has about dating, love, staying healthy, etc. I also often play the daily games like Sudoku and the Crossword Puzzle and every once in a while I even catch myself looking at the astrology section.

Your Dog’s Dental Care

Tuesday, 6. July 2010 9:22

It’s only natural that if you consider the dog to be your best friend you would want to take care of it completely which includes its dental care. Elevated dog feeders can help dogs eat better too. The mouth of your dog actually reveals its health condition and hence monitoring it very often is very necessary. One of the most perceivable problems for your dog is its bad breath and this is a result of an inherent health problem. Firstly keeping an eye on the color of the dog’s teeth is of utmost importance, it can give away a lot on how the dog is feeling. Secondly the visible problems are bleeding gums, broken teeth or some growth that is not normal. Any of these symptoms can require in depth treatment and is an indication that a visit to the vet is necessary. For a complete dental care of your dog, get toothbrushes that are especially made for dogs and you can also give them chews that they can chew for their dental care.
