Baked Goodness

Last night’s dinner was a very filling and complete affair: baked chicken, mashed potatoes, baked biscuits, and green beans. You could easily describe it as the “Homemade Meal, American Style”, considering all of the ingredients had to be made, cooked, or prepared to come extent — but most of which weren’t really fresh. The chicken was slow cooked for a good portion of the day. When it was done, we put its juices over the range, and thickened it into a delicious gravy. Stretched with some chicken broth, and seasoned with salt and pepper, it came out quite tasty. The mashed potatoes were a buttery blend, made on the stove, from pre-packaged materials. Not as good as fresh, but still yummy. The biscuits were by Pillsbury, which I find to be just as good as home-baked bread, without spending a whole day doing it. The green beans were frozen and heated up in the microwave… in this case, I do much prefer fresh from the farmer’s market. All in all, it was a great, filling meal.
